I was visiting some family up on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula of Washington state, and was lucky enough to have the clock strike "smoke" at this beautiful spot:
Could it get any better than this for a lazy Sunday afternoon 420 session? As Mike LaFontaine said in "A Mighty Wind": "I don't THINK SOOO!"

420 #38 (PM) Heads-Up Poker on Hulu
Poker is, for lack of a better term, a hobby for me. I've spent time tracking my winnings and stats, but if just seemed to take the fun out of it. So I keep it light, fun, and inexpensive, but I love watching the heavies of the poker world duke it out from time to time. I dig watching stuff on Hulu, and when I found out that they had posted the 2008 National Heads-Up Poker Championship, I jumped into them tonight -- sadly staying up way too late. But one of those great bonuses of staying up past 4am is the celebration that is 4:20am -- so I filled my bowl to the rim and settled in for another episode. If you like this kind of thing, the first episode is embedded below for your viewing pleasure, with the rest of course available at Hulu.420 #37 (AM) "Book of Secrets" Better While Stoned
I borrowed the 2-disc special edition of "National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets" from a friend purely out of curiosity: would more money and a heavier cast make a better movie? I'm a sucker for movies of this type -- the light-hearted adventure, intrigue, treasure hunt flick -- whether it's the classic Indiana Jones flick or lesser known but equally fun fare like "The Rundown" or "Sahara". Armed with some trusty fresh-rolled joints, I settled into what would end up being a fun movie, but not much more. I got more information out of the the behind-the-scenes look at the Library of Congress, but the story and action are thrilling and energetic to be sure. But I can only assume that a large part of my enjoyment was due to the late hour and additional help from Brother THC, as I'm guessing a third-grader wouldn't have much trouble following the supposed intricacies of the plot...

420 #36 (AM) DNC+THC=FUN
I decided to get caught up on all the business of the Democratic National Convention as the wee hours approached, and I was struck by the amount of down-right fun it looked like people were having. I sure had fun watching their fun, but then again, I had Brother THC there to help me through the night. I will say that it sure looked like a good party, and, judging by this recent Marijuana Voting Guide, some of those Democrats were partying right along with me and Brother THC. Even Joe Biden got a surprise:

420 #35 (AM) My "24" Binging Comes to an End
Finally! I've watched every episode of "24" I have available to me, and while I'm stoked to see Day Six, I could use a break. I figured out that I watched 120 episodes of this show, at about 40 minutes per episode, equaling about 80 hours of watching "24" in the last few weeks. DAMN! I won't be getting those hours back either, but what a great show! I had to compliment my usual pipe-puffing with a celebratory bong toke, given the enormity of this achievement -- ha! Not sure when I'll get to Day Six, but it'll have to be soon, because the next chapter in the "24" saga starts in November, so you can bet it'll be sometime before that. See you then!

420 #34 (AM) USA Baseball Team Beats Chinese Taipei
Thankfully, the ultra-late night viewing options have included baseball. This morning's option to go with my joint-armed 420 session had the United States taking on Chinese Taipei, and thankfully it ended in a handy win for us, 4-2. Again, I have to comment how nice is was to watch the game and really feel like a spectator -- nobody talking through the game, just pure sports action. If you missed the game -- or anything else at the Olympics for that matter -- check it out on the NBC Olympics site. They have a full archive of pretty much anything that happened, from archery to wrestling and everything else under the sun related to the Beijing Olympics.

420 #33 (AM) South Korea and China in Live Olympic Baseball
I got my first jolt of live Olympics action online tonight as I watched a great eleven inning battle between South Korea and China, with South Korea getting the winning run in the top of the eleventh. I'm sure enjoying watch events online without all the commentary and advertising -- just straight up sports. With the score 0-0 going into extra innings, I could tell it was gonna be a sudden death ending, just a matter of when, so I was thankful to have plenty of good herb on hand to keep my bowl filled. If you missed the game -- or anything else for that matter -- check it out on the NBC Olympics site.

420 #32 (PM) Vampires and Herb = Badly Needed Break from "24"
Ok, ok, ok -- I need a break from "24" this afternoon. I have been binging so bad! So, as the afternoon possibility of a 420 session rolled around, I decided to pull out the Collector's Edition DVD of Bram Stoker's Dracula, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. In my mind, this is the definitive telling of the Dracula tale next to Murnau's "Nosferatu" -- which bears only a close resemblance in plot, but really gets the vibe -- but I gotta say, this movie is worth every penny just to see Monica Belluci's debut performance. Thank the Lord above for the bountiful breasts of Monica Belluci! I'd completely forgotten about her memorable presence in this flick. And Anthony Hopkins is bat-shit crazy as Van Helsing -- I loved his near-lunatic rantings to go along with Tom Waits' actually-possessed ravings. Check it out if you get the chance -- maybe a little sappy with the injection of the love story, but still visually impressive with a very authentic feel. And be sure to load up your favorite smoking apparatus -- preferably something in red!
420 #31 (AM) Officially Hooked on "24"
I'm into Day 2 -- also known as the second season -- of "24" and I can officially say that I am hooked, addicted, and hog-tied to this show! I can already see that this show is going to account for too many late nights in the future, or at least a few big binges. If you haven't seen this show, watch the first season. The WHOLE season. This thing is all about the big picture. It's hard to judge this show on one episode, but I guarantee that after a season you'll be hooked. I now know that I am... sadly. Goodbye, hours.
